My name is Rianti and I am a third-year student at the University of Indonesia. I am currently studying for a five-year bachelor's degree in architecture, and I plan to continue studying for a one-year master's degree after graduation.

When I was in high school, I worked extensively with the local Habitat Center branch to help build houses for low-income families. I learned the construction process from scratch and discovered the importance of function in architectural design. In my four years as a volunteer, the houses we built were never extravagant, but they achieved their goals and became a beacon of hope for the owners.

My education is mainly focused on this idea: function is better than form, and stability is better than performance. I have registered for several courses that span the major of architectural engineering because I want to have a comprehensive understanding of how design meets structure. Under the supervision of architecture professors (Dr. X and Dr. Y), I worked on three over-loan residential design projects to speed up my research and education.

I want to be an architect in order to create affordable housing opportunities in poor communities. I live in a college town and have seen countless rental properties, but there are very few houses that are affordable for college students and first-time home buyers. This is the case in many cities and towns in Indonesia, especially in areas with lower living standards. My goal is to build enough entry housing communities to help adults build fairness, avoid excessive debt and create financial stability for their futures.

I plan to do an internship at (nama perusahaan) Architects in the summer. After getting my master’s degree, I will continue my on-the-job training there. After the work of the prestigious residential architects (nama perusahaan), I wanted to open my own construction company, focusing on the development of cheap, high-quality housing. In addition, I want to work with UN-Habitat again, this time as an architect instead of a general worker. I firmly believe that their mission is to build "a world where everyone has a decent living environment".

Dear Sir/Madam, I am Selly, a graduate student from the University of Indonesia in Depok, Indonesia, with a Bachelor's degree in English Education.
