Pinocchio
In the past, there was a puppeteer whose name was Geppetto. He is eager to have a son very much but his wife passed away several years ago. One day, he got the idea to make a puppet in order not to be lonely again. He made a puppet all day long. Finally, in the morning he had finished his work and he named the puppet Pinocchio. Soon he felt lonely again since Pinocchio couldn’t walk or talk by himself. One night, Geppetto prayed to God to become a real boy. He always thought it on his mind in his dream.
The next morning, he was surprised that Pinocchio was alive. He taught Pinocchio how to walk, how to read, how to speak, and to do other things as a human. He then studied at an elementary school. One day, Pinocchio felt bored and it made him go home late. When Pinocchio finally came home, Geppetto asked him. He said that he was at school but he wasn’t. Instantly, Pinocchio's nose grew longer and longer and it meant that Pinocchio had lied.
The next morning, Pinocchio was kidnapped by the owner of the circus. Pinocchio soon became a slave for the circus. He was so famous because he was a puppet who could talk. Geppetto worried about him because Pinocchio had not been going home for almost two days. He tried to find Pinocchio everywhere but he found nothing. When he searched for him on the sea, a big wave smashed him. He was then in a whale’s stomach when he awoke. He couldn't find a way to go out.
On the other side, Pinocchio finally could escape from the circus. He came home but nobody was there. Later on, he searched for Geppetto in the sea. He had the same accident as Geppetto and he met Geppetto in a whale’s stomach. Both of them got out of their stomachs by making a fire. In the end of the story, they went home together and lived happily ever after.

The Rabbit and The Turtle
One day a rabbit was boasting about how fast he could run. He was laughing at the turtle for being so slow.
Much to the rabbit's surprise, the turtle challenged him to a race. The rabbit thought this was a good joke and accepted the challenge. The fox was to be the umpire of the race. As the race began, the rabbit raced way ahead of the turtle, just like everyone thought.
The rabbit got to the halfway point and could not see the turtle anywhere. He was hot and tired and decided to stop and take a short nap. All this time the turtle kept walking step by step by step. He never quit no matter how hot or tired he got. He just kept going.
However, the rabbit slept longer than he had thought and woke up. He could not see the turtle anywhere! He went at full speed to the finish line but found the turtle there waiting for him.
The Legend of Surabaya
A long time ago, there were two animals, Sura and Baya. Sura was the name of a shark and Baya was a crocodile. They lived in the sea.
Once Sura and Baya were looking for some food. Suddenly, Baya saw a goat "Yummy, this is my lunch," said Baya. "No way! This is my lunch. You are greedy", said Sura. Then they fought for the goat. After several hours, they were very tired.
Feeling tired of fighting, they lived in different places. Sura lived in the water and Baya lived in the land. The border was the beach, so they would never fight again.
One day, Sura went to the land and looked for some food in the river. He was very hungry and there was not much food in the sea. Baya was very angry when he found out that Sura had broken the promise. They fought again.
They both hit each other. Sura bit Baya's tail. Baya did the same thing to Sura. He bit very hard until Sura finally gave up and went back to the sea. Baya was happy.

The Ugly Duckling
Once upon a time, a mother duck sat on her eggs. She felt tired of sitting on them. She just wished the eggs would break out.
Several days later, she got her wish. The eggs cracked and some cute little ducklings appeared. "Peep, peep" the little ducklings cried. "Quack, quack" their mother greeted in return.
However, the largest egg had not cracked. The mother duck sat on it for several days. Finally, it cracked and a huge ugly duckling waddled out. The mother duck looked at him in surprise. He was so big and very gray. He didn't look like the others at all. He was like a turkey.
When the mother duck brought the children to the pond for their first swimming lesson., the huge grey duckling splashed and paddled about just as nicely as the other ducklings did. "That is not a turkey chick. He is my very own son and quite handsome" the mother said proudly.
However, the other animals didn't agree. They hissed and made fun of him day by day. Even his own sisters and brothers were very unkind. "You are very ugly" they quacked.
The little poor duckling was very unhappy. "I wish I looked like them," he thought to himself. One day, the ugly duckling ran away and hid in the bushes. The sad duckling lived alone through the cold and snowy winter. Finally, the spring flowers began to bloom. While he was swimming in the pond, he saw three large white swans swimming toward him. "Oh, dear. these beautiful birds will laugh and peck me too" he said to himself. But the swans did not attack him. Instead, they swam around him and stroked him with their bills. As the ugly duckling bent his neck to speak to them, he saw his reflection in the water. He could not believe his eyes. "I am not an ugly duckling but a beautiful swam" he exclaimed.
He was very happy. From that day on, he swam and played with his new friends and was happier than he had never been.
True Friends
Once upon a time, there were two close friends who were walking through the forest together. They knew that anything dangerous could happen at any time in the forest. So they promised each other that they would always be together in any case of danger.
Suddenly, they saw a large bear getting closer to them. One of them climbed a nearby tree at once. But unfortunately, the other one did not know how to climb up the tree. So being led by his common sense, he lay down on the ground breathless and pretended to be a dead man.
The bear came near the one who was lying on the ground. It smelt in his ears, and slowly left the place because the bears did not want to touch the dead creatures. After that, the friend on the tree came down and asked his friend who was on the ground, "Friend, what did the bear whisper into your ears?" The other friend replied, "Just now the bear advised me not to believe a false friend".
